In a move to preserve peace and public order in Indore, Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh has implemented a 'prohibitory order' under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Code 2023.

Any breach of this directive will lead to punitive measures under Section 223 of the Indian Justice Code 2023.

The order, effective until July 4, 2025, as per the announcement made on X account of the District Collector, prohibits any individual or group within Indore's urban limits from organizing events that could fuel animosity between communities.

Prohibitions include engaging in provocative speech or spreading misinformation, whether in person or via social media, that could incite religious sentiments or jeopardize communal harmony.

The order also bans the hoarding of items like bricks, stones, glass containers, flammable materials, or explosives in public spaces or rooftops, which could be used for violent or intimidating purposes.

Furthermore, dissemination of improper publications that could stoke communal tensions is not allowed, and spreading false information or rumors that may disturb peace is strictly prohibited.

Use of religious symbols or language on social media to provoke hostility is considered an offense, with social media group administrators responsible for ensuring their platforms are devoid of incendiary content.

Operators of cybercafes are required to verify visitors' identities using valid documentation like identity cards, voter IDs, ration cards, driving licenses, or PAN cards, maintaining a registry of visitor details and installing web cameras to capture users' images for at least six months.

These stringent measures aim to uphold public safety, prevent communal discord, and enhance accountability in physical and digital realms, safeguarding Indore as a secure and harmonious city.

Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh has issued a prohibitory order in Indore to ensure peace and public order, with strict regulations in place until July 4, 2025.
