Federal Fire Service Strengthens Fire Safety Compliance with Special Task Force Inauguration

In a decisive move to strengthen fire safety compliance and enhance national resilience, the Controller General, Federal Fire Service (FFS), Olumode Adeyemi Samuel, has inaugurated the Special Task Force on Public and Private Building Audit at the Service Headquarters, Abuja.

The event, themed 'Strengthening Fire Safety Compliance in Public Buildings: A Call to Action for National Resilience,' underscores the renewed commitment of the Federal Fire Service to proactive fire risk management and the prevention of avoidable disasters.

Controller General Adeyemi noted the urgent need for stricter enforcement of fire safety standards in public and commercial buildings, citing recent fire incidents in major cities.

The newly inaugurated Task Force is mandated to map public buildings, classify fire risk levels, inspect facilities for compliance, and provide recommendations for enforcement actions and policy decisions.

Chaired by Assistant Controller General Bolarinde Tajudeen Muhammed, the Task Force comprises senior officers to oversee the audit exercise with professionalism and integrity.

The Controller General emphasized the shared responsibility of fire safety and urged cooperation from owners and managers of public, private, and high-rise buildings during the audit.
